ACE Weekly Update -- May 12th, 2017
Thank you for attending ACE Orientation!
Orientation isn't always the most exciting day of the semester, but it's great to start off the semester together. Thank you all for sharing your questions, wisdom, and enthusiasm.
Coaching meetings start next week! Before you left orientation, you signed up for your first two coaching meetings. You should have received an email with the date, time, and coach you signed up for. If you have any questions, please call Natalie at 671-5071.
At these pre-semester coaching meetings, you'll sign up for classes, plan your schedule, learn what textbooks you'll need, and check your technology skills.
Before your first coaching meeting, please do the following homework.
HW #1: Begin your College Knowledge Scavenger Hunt. We encourage you to do as much of it as you can before your first meeting so that you can ask your coach for suggestions if you're having trouble finding answers. If you lost your sheet, you can print a new one here.
HW #2: If you haven't previously watched it, please watch the college's online orientation. Click here to view it. NOTE: You do NOT need to take any further steps right now and you do NOT need to take the college's placement test. This orientation is just to get you more familiar with the college.
Don't miss important reminders! The ACE program sends text messages to remind students about important upcoming events and opportunities. Seriously. You should sign up. (Also, these messages aren't group messages and you'll generally receive only one or two per week). Sign up by sending the text @acedcc to the phone number 81010.
Continuing students: Exit exam results are in. To review your results and plan next steps, please set an appointment with Josh through our website. Appointments are available on Fridays.
On the site (www.dccaep.wixsite.com/support), click on "Book Online"
Click on "ACE Support Services"
Click on "ACE Exit Exam Review"
Click on a date to see the times available on that date. When you find a time that works for you, click "Book It" and fill in the form with your contact info.
You should immediately receive an email confirming your appointment. Make sure to write it down!
Register ASAP for HiSET Graduation!
Did you know that we do a cap-and-gown graduation ceremony each June for all the students who've passed their HiSET during this school year? This year's ceremony will be on June 2nd. There's still time to get on the graduation list, but you need to sign up this week! Anyone who passes all sections of the HiSET by the end of May is eligible to walk in graduation, though you'll need to have your cap & gown by then. Call the office at 671-5434 if you have questions.
