Need a place to stay?  These resources may help.

Transitional Housing Programs

This list comes from Unity of Greater New Orleans.  They describe transitional housing as “programs that include short-term (3 to 24 months) residential housing, congregate housing, or rental assistance in scattered site apartments for individuals or families experiencing homelessness for the purpose of facilitating their movement to independent living.”

Transitional Housing for 16-22 Year Olds

If you or a young person you know needs a safe place to stay, consider Covenant House.  This information comes from their website: “The Crisis Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Help begins with a hot meal, clean clothes, a shower, a bed and medical care. Only after these immediate needs are met does the Covenant House staff begin to address the more complex problems of these youth in crisis.

Our team of caring professionals develops individualized plans with and for each young person. Services include case management, health services, counseling, educational services, employment services, and bus tickets.

Covenant House is free and our doors are always open! If you are a youth who needs help, call 504-584-111, or come to our location at 611 North Rampart Street. We are open 24/7, and we always have room!”
